Your main treat for today are great new pictures announcing the third season of popular HBO epic show GAME OF THRONES! For some reason, "Entertainment Weekly" has decided to focus mostly on Kit Harington's Jon Snow character and Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen, but you can also see a picture of Snow with his brother Robb Stark king of the North magnificently portrayed by Richard Madden. The ten episode third season will air in USA March 31st and the next day around the world. The season is based on STORM OF SWORDS, the third book in George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy saga SONG OF ICE AND FIRE and will depict new wars and conflicts including men, dragons and even some strange looking zombies. The cast has tones of new additions including Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei, a Naathi servant of DaenerysTargaryen, Tara Fitzgerald as Selyse Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon's wife, Ciarán Hinds as Mance Rayder, the Wildling "King Beyond The Wall", Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrell, the "Queen of Thorns", Margaery and Loras Tyrell's grandmother, with the musicians Will Champion of Coldplay and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol making cameo appearances!   MIKE LEIGH'S FILM ON 18TH CENTURY PAINTER TURNER 

  Here's another historical project for you: seven time Oscar nominee Mike Leigh and Sony are ready to shoot a biopic on famous British painter JMW TURNER who

is considered England's greatest artist of all times. Timothy Spall will take the lead role in the project that Mike Leigh has been preparing for ten years now. Living in the 18th and 19th century, Turner was considered a controversial figure in his day, but is now regarded as the artist who elevated landscape painting to an eminence rivalling history painting. Although renowned for his oil paintings, Turner is also one of the greatest masters of British watercolour landscape painting. He is commonly known as "the painter of light"! He had an eccentric and often reclusive private life. Leigh has already chosen tones of Oscar winning make up artists, costume designers and cinematographers to work on the film.

  THE COLONY TRAILER

According  to "The Hollywood Reporter" everybody's favourite Hugh Jackman, who you've seen this winter shinning in LES MISERABLES

and will see later this summer in WOLVERINE, has taken the lead role in SIX YEARS! The big screen adaptation of the yet unpublished upcoming novel by Harlan Coben (for which Paramount led battles with other major studios) centrers on Jake Fisher, a man who, six years ago, watched the love of his life Natalie marry another man. When he discovers an obituary of the man she married, Jake goes to the funeral, in hopes of seeing Natalie. He learns that the widow is not Natalie, forcing him to question all of his past memories.

  NEW COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO FILM 

  And while we're mentioning LES MISERABLES, another classic will get its new movie version soon: according to THR David S. Goyer will direct Alex Dumas' THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO which is set in the early 19th century and centres on Edmond Dantes, a young man who is falsely imprisoned. During his time in prison, he meets a man that educates him and gives

 him the coordinates for a hidden fortune. After he escapes his imprisonment, he heads back to Paris where he plots to exact his revenge on the men that put him in prison.

  ELENA SATINE IN THE SIXTH GUN SF SHOW 

  In TV news, upcoming sf show THE SIXTH GUN has added mindblowing beauty Elena Satine to the cast! The supernatural Western follows the story of six mythical guns, each with its own other worldly powers. When the Sixth Gun, the most powerful and dangerous of the group, resurfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, Becky Montcrief (Laura Ramsey), dark forces re-awaken. "Deadline" writes that Satine will play the “widow” Missy Hume, a powerful Madame who runs the town of Brimstone kept unnaturally youthful by being in possession of the Fifth Gun. A cold stunningly beautiful woman of great cunning, she is unafraid to use whatever means to collect all Six Guns for her own dark purposes.

  ANCIENT ROME SITCOM PLEBS 

Here is something hilarious in an epic way, and I mean literally - a new sitcom set in the epic times of ancient Rome! I have already written before about the new comedy PLEBS but it is now ready to premiere at ITV2 in six half hour episodes! PLEBS will be a thoroughly modern  comedy with an ancient setting. The series will follow three desperate young men from the suburbs as they try to get laid, hold down jobs and climb the social ladder in the big city – a city that just happens to be Ancient Rome! The series stars Tom Rosenthal (Friday Night Dinner), Joel Fry (White Van Man, Trollied) and Ryan Sampson (Work Experience, After You’ve Gone) as the three young men – Marcus, Stylax and their lazy slave with a major attitude problem, Grumio. Doon Mackichan (Smack The Pony) also stars, as the boys’ ruthless boss, Flavia - an expert manipulator with a private life that's the stuff of legend. A sexy newcomer called Cynthia played by Sophie Colquhoun (The Inbetweeners Movie, Switch) soon joins the boys as she moves into the flat next door along with her sarcastic slave Metella played by Lydia Rose Bewley (The Inbetweeners Movie). Rome is traditionally imagined as the home of emperors and senators, generals and  gladiators, a dignified theatre of pomp and ceremony. But what about the little guys, the wasters - new to the big city, stuck in office jobs, unable to get the girls? Unlikely to be immortalized in the annals  or memorialized in a frieze, Marcus, Stylax and Grumio are essentially just a bunch of Plebs. And whether they’re wearing togas, or skinny jeans, desperate young men in any period of history are essentially cut from the same cloth.

MICHIEL HUISMAN IN SF WESTERN "THE SIXTH GUN"! BEN ALDRIDGE IS PRINCE IN SF SHOW "SELECTION"! ANGUS MACFADYEN IN HISTORICAL SHOW "TURN"! MAX IRONS IS "POSH"!

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Max Irons, also known as Jeremy Iron's not so talented son, has scored the lead role in POSH a drama to be directed by Lone Scherfig. The story of the film focuses on the fictional elite Oxbridge dining society, dubbed the Riot Club, who hold clandestine meetings in a private room at a pub. This will actually be a big screen adaptation of a theatre play from Laura Wade which was staged in London Royal Court theatre in 2010 with GAME OF THRONES' Kit Harington launching his acting career in it. For reasons unknown, Max Irons has beat much talented guys Sam Claflin and Douglas Booth at the audition. You will see him this year in sf thriller HOST with Saoirse Ronan and then as the English king in new epic series THE WHITE QUEEN which premieres this July at Starz and BBC!

 In  today's television news, NBC sf pilot THE SIXTH GUN has added magnetic Michiel Huisman to the cast! He will take the male lead

BEN ALDRIDGE IS PRINCE IN SELECTION SF SHOW 

 Another TV pilot epic fantasy THE SELECTION over at CW, which will be set in a galactic kingdom in which girls compete to become a new queen and marry the prince in the world filled with court intrigues and plots, has added  British actor Ben Aldridge to the cast. Joining Yael Grobglas, Michael Malarkey and Lucien Laviscount, Aldridge will play Prince Rafe, the younger brother of Prince Maxon (Michael Malarkey) who loves his country and takes his leadership role seriously — but he does have a secret.

  ANGUS MCFADYEN IN TURN HISTORICAL SHOW 

And yet another of the upcoming pilots has new cast members! AMC's new historical show TURN has added brilliant Angus Macfadyen and  DOWNTON ABBEY's Kevin McNally to the cast. Turn is set in

the summer of 1778 and tells the story of New York farmer Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely group of spies who turn the tide in America’s fight for independence. McNally will play Richard Woodhull, the local magistrate and Abe’s well-respected father. A loyalist whose allegiance is to the King, we may wonder if he is trying to stay on the side he believes will win as opposed to the side he truly believes in. Macfadyen will play Robert Rogers, a feared and admired war hero who fought alongside George Washington in the French and Indian war but has fallen from grace following a return to England where he has gambled away his fortune and lapsed into alcoholism.

STEPHEN FRY IN SUPER CLYDE!

Now this is definitely a delightful piece of news: our favourite British thespian Stephen Fry has joined the cast of upcoming new sitcom SUPER CLYDE which is to get its pilot over at CBS! As I've reported

before, HARRY PLOPPER's Rupert Grint takes the lead role in the story of a fast food worker  who decides to become a superhero after inheriting a $100,000 a-month inheritance from his long-dead eccentric uncle. He uses the money to help people in need! Stephen Fry will play his butler Randolp LOL While, Clyde is described as a well-meaning and sweet yet slightly neurotic guy who never feels like he really fits in, he also has a brother who will be played Tyler Labine from ANIMAL PRACTICE!

  JOHN CHO IN SLEEPY HOLLOW

 Meanwhile, STAR TREK star John Cho will guest star in Fox new historical fantasy show SLEEPY HOLLOW in which amazing Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie play Ichabod Crane and the local female sheriff, who team up to solve supernatural mysteries. John Cho will playa local cop in the pilot episode!

  WAR TEASER FOR GAME OF THRONES SEASON 3

A new teaser has been released for GAME OF THRONES season three, this time focusing

on war! KATE BECKINSALE IS "ELIZA GRAVES"! ANG LEE TO REPLACE SPIELBERG IN "GODS AND KINGS" EPIC? CHRISTIAN BALE IN RIDLEY SCOTT'S "EXODUS" EPIC! THEO JAMES JOINS "DIVERGENT"

And after Jai Courtney, the latest one to join the movie adaptation of fantasy saga DIVERGENT is Theo James! The star of UNDERWORLD AWAKENING will play Four in this thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group.   CHRISTIAN BALE IN EXODUS EPIC! ANG LEE TO HELM GODS AND KINGS 

Interesting news are coming from the two of the upcoming rival Biblical projects: first, "Deadline" reports that Christian Bale is circling the lead role in 20th Century Fox epic EXODUS! Although the plot hasn't been revealed yet, you can guess what the film will be about and it will be directed by Ridley Scott! Meanwhile over at Warner Bros. their own historical project GODS AND KINGS has lost Steven Spielberg behind the helm which is a huge setback! Apparently the studio is now reaching out to Ang Lee to direct the Braveheart-esque rendition of Moses' story from the Bible.

  KATE BECKINSALE IS ELIZA GRAVES 

And here's something on another UNDERWORLD star! We haven't seen Kate Beckinsale much outside the vampire saga (don't know why, she's gorgeous and also a decent actress) and it seems she is moving away from Hollywood and shooting her new project down in Bulgaria! According to "The Hollywood Reporter" she is negotiating to take the lead role in ELIZA  GRAVES a thriller helmed by Brad Anderson (the one who ruined Christian Bale's outstanding physical and emotional efforts in THE MACHINIST with his aimless direction).  The movie is based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, and follows a Med School student trapped in a mental institution that has been overtaken by its inmates. Some of whom are now pretending to be doctors. Kate Beckinsale will play the title character, an inmate that has an affair with the Harvard grad.

HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHT ON THE BOYS OF "SPARTACUS WAR OF THE DAMNED" EPIC SHOW: LIAM MCINTYRE, DAN FEUERRIEGEL, DUSTIN CLARE, MANU BENNETT, PANA HEMA TAYLOR, SIMON MERRELLS, CHRISTIAN ANTIDORMI

One of the most popular historical series ever SPARTACUS is nearing its final end with the ending episode of WAR OF THE DAMNED scheduled to air in a few weeks. Unlike the previous season VENGEANCE, the final run of the show has been exciting, well written

and more focused, and the show will end gloriously, so let us honour the boys of SPARTACUS who have brought us fun and joy from the small screens for years. From the brave leader of the rebels to his courageous generals Agron, Gannicus and Crixus to the actors who portrayed the legendary gladiators and slaves!

  LIAM MCINTYRE

It is true that Liam McIntyre had some big sandals to fill when he was chosen to take over the lead role in the show after Andy Whitfield's shocking death (he actually got the blessing from Andy to take over the role since he auditioned after Andy discovered that he will have to undergo the cancer treatment). He did not quite succeed, lacking the  magnetic charisma, but he was not bad at all. There was warmth and trustworthy vibe he emitted while portraying the character of Spartacus in the last two seasons! The tall Australian didn't have a lot of projects in his CV before SPARTACUS but he did play in another famous epic series - THE PACIFIC! He currently doesn't have any upcoming projects in his sleeve.

  DAN FEUERRIEGEL

The right hand of Spartacus and his most faithful friend and assistant, German gladiator Agron has never left the side of the rebellion leader whether in life or in battle. He also soothed and cured his battle wounds in the loving arms of his kindhearted lover Nasir with whom he shared tender love which gave the show a sparkle of warmth in the dark world filled with bloodshed and war. Written with deep care their relationship really is one of the highlights of the whole show. Like many other Australian actors, dashing and deeply delightful Dan Feuerriegel who portrays Agron, had played previously in "McLeod's Daughters" and in "Home and Away" series. He also has a huge army of fans called The Furys! We hope to see brilliant Dan in some future projects!

  DUSTIN CLARE

Gannicus is the only of the rebellion leaders who wasn't present in the show from the beginning arriving to the scene in the GODS OF THE ARENA prequel season as the first gladiator star of the House of Batiatus who will later on become a trusted helper of Spartacus with an independent spirit and a love for pretty ladies. Hunky Dustin Clare who plays Gannicus also starred in "McLeod's Daughters" and unlike most other cast members, he has two other projects this year - romantic drama SUNDAY and musical comedy GODDESS with Ronan Keating!

  MANU BENNETT

It seems that Manu Bennett who plays impulsive Crixus is the only one currently from the cast who has managed to get into Hollywood since you've also seen him as evil Azog in HOBBIT THE UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and as Slade Wilson in ARROW show. He also starred in epic adventure SINBAD AND THE MINOTAUR and it is interesting that he played Marc Anthony in cult epic series XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS. His Crixus grows from Spartacus' main rival in the arena to one of his generals in the rebellion who often has to choose sides between the wise Spartacus and his arrogant, bitchy and neurotic girlfriend flimsy Naevia.

  PANA HEMA TAYLOR

Appearing in the show as a slave whom the rebels free from his master's villa, Nasir later on developed from a home slave with a tender body to a formidable warrior who stands side by side with other rebels  in battles and even teaches new rebels fighting skills. Even though he has a wife and two kids in his private life, Pana Hema Taylor depicted the undeniable deep chemistry with Dan Feuerriegel in such a believable way in the profound love scenes between Nasir and Agron, that he easily managed to justify the popularity of their characters among the fans of the show.

  SIMON MERRELLS

When you see his fight scenes in the show and his amazingly flawless body and muscles, I bet you wouldn't believe that Simon Merrells is close to 50 in his real life! He came to WAR OF THE DAMNED to replace hauntingly brilliant Craig Parker as the Roman villain and he did the job spotlessly as Roman general Marcus Crassus. Wise, refined, in love tender and romantic, but in his legions firm and strict, Crassus comes to the series to do what others failed to do - to destroy Spartacus and his rebellion. You've seen Merrells in THE WOLFMAN and a number of British shows and he has been prolific on theatre stage too! 

  TODD LASANCE

It is quite unusual watching Caesar as an impulsive, aggressive, rash and arrogant young warrior in SPARTACUS WAR OF THE DAMNED, but if some of the rumours that we might get a possible CAESAR spin-off series, prove to be true, then we might see him becoming more mature and rising to the power in Rome. In the show, he is played by super dashing Australian star Todd Lasance who, believe it or not, also comes from HOME AND AWAY and MCLEOD'S DAUGHTERS. Privately, Todd is obviously a naughty boy who has even been arrested for the possession of cocaine in the past!

  CHRISTIAN ANTIDORMI

Young charmer Christian Antidormi also came from HOME AND AWAY. He is rather convincing in portraying the character of rash and immature Tiberius who, pampered as the son of a Roman general, has to grow up quickly and prove himself worthy in the legions, a task he sadly fails in. His character was also there to excite the younger female audience with his tight buttocks often exposed in the show to the delight of the crowd :)

JAI COURTNEY IN "DIVERGENT"! HEATHER LIND, JAMIE BELL IN "TURN" EPIC SHOW! ROBERT BUCKLEY IN "HOLDING PATTERNS" SITCOM! KRISTIN DAVIS IN "BAD TEACHER" SITCOM

And it is interesting that  only a few days after Maggie Q joined the movie adaptation of fantasy saga DIVERGENT, we have another casting info: charismatic Jai Courtney, who started his career as brave gladiator in

SPARTACUS epic show and went over to Hollywood to play Bruce Willis' son in GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, has joined the cast too. Based on the Veronica Roth novel the film will depict a futuristic America that is divided into five factions: selflessness (Abnegation), peacefulness (Amity), honesty (Candor), bravery (Dauntless), and intelligence (Erudite). Each citizen must choose which trait they want to devote the rest of their lives to, at the age of 16. Jai Courtney will play the leader of the Dauntless tribe Eric, who serves as one of the primary antagonists for Shailene Woodley's Beatrice "Tris" Prior, who struggles with the Dauntless initiation when she makes a powerful discovery about her hidden strength.

HEATHER LIND IN "TURN" HISTORICAL SHOW 

Yet, another of the upcoming historical shows we are anticipating - TURN has a new cast member. One of HOLLYWOOD SPY's favourite faces to stare at - Robert Buckley (who was brilliant in LIPSTICK JUNGLE and GOSSIP GIRL and most recently in 666 PARK AVE) has scored a role in a new sitcom. "Deadline" reports  that HOLDING PATTERNS will be an ensemble multi camera comedy about a group of friends whose lives completely change after they survive a plane crash. Robert Buckley will play one of them, Chad, Griffin’s (Humphrey Ker) and Leah’s (Chyler Leight) arrogant, misogynistic friend, now a successful chick-lit author who returns home for the wedding.

  KRISTIN DAVIS IS BAD TEACHER

Meanwhile always delightful and lovely Kristin Davis, whom we all remember as elegant and kind Charlotte from SEX AND THE CITY, is coming back to comedy shows. She just landed a role in the television adaptation of BAD TEACHER, Cameron Diaz movie from a few years ago.  The sitcom centres on hot, confident, unapologetic former trophy wife Meredith Davis (Ari Graynor), who becomes a teacher to find a new man after her husband leaves her without a dime. Davis will play Ginny, a history teacher, choir director, Faculty President and Meredith’s nemesis.
