CW'S "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST" TRAILER WITH KRISTIN KREUK & JAY RYAN! CATE BLANCHETT IN "CAROL"! NEW VIKING EPIC "HAMMER OF THE GODS" WITH CHARLIE BEWLEY!

 You know how much HOLLYWOOD SPY adores the extremely talented Australian thespian and the best living actress Cate Blanchett and now it seems she finally has a new project: "Screen Daily" reports that Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska will take the lead roles in CAROL, which will be a movie adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's bestseller THE PRICE OF SALT. To start shooting next February in London, the story of the movie follows the burgeoning relationship between two very different women in 1950s New York. One, a girl in her twenties works in a department store and dreams of a more fulfilling life, and the other is a wife trapped in a loveless, moneyed marriage. The heartbreaking story will be directed by John Crowley (IS ANYBODY THERE).

Here's another upcoming epic project: currently shooting in London and in Wales, we have HAMMER OF THE GODS. Vertigo Films production is set Set in Viking Britain in 871 AD, and according

to "The Screen Daily" the story of the film is described as “a visceral, intense tale set in a world whose only language is violence”. The film will follow a young Viking warrior, Steinar (played by TWILIGHT's blond hunk Charlie Bewley), sent by his father the King on a quest to find his estranged brother. Stylish and barbaric film will also have Ivan Kaye ("Dark Shadows") and James Cosmo ("Braveheart", "Game Of Thrones") in the cast.

HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHT ON ENCHANTING EPIC ADVENTURE "RISE OF THE GUARDIANS" WITH HUGH JACKMAN, JUDE LAW, ALEC BALDWIN, CHRIS PINE

You probably know by now that this year will be the year of amazingly cute animated films. With magic from HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON,

We're having a trailer day today at HOLLYWOOD SPY. The first one is for THE WORDS, a thriller which will open up in cinemas this September with the story which revolves around an aspiring writer (played by Bradley Cooper) who claims another man's long lost work as his own only to find there are steep consequences when ambition is valued above life's most fundamental, impassioned three words. The other man is played by Jeremy Irons, but there are other famous faces in the cast too: Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saldana, John Hannah, Ben Barnes and Dennis Quaid. Check out the rather dramatic trailer which promises a film that might actually touch the audience.

 Well, if you ask me, there's never enough epic adventures on the big screens, so this comes as a nice piece of news to me: according to "Deadline" Disney is finally moving on with the movie adaptation of 

the best selling book for children PETER AND THE STAR CATCHERS by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. The evocative and fast-paced adventure on the high seas is set on a faraway island, where an orphan boy named Peter and his pretty, mysterious new friend, Molly, overcome bands of pirates and thieves in their quest to keep a fantastical secret safe and save the world from evil. Meanwhile, John Cusack has joined Elijah Wood in GRAND PIANO, which follows a famous concert pianist whose stage fright has kept him from playing for years. Upon giving into the request to perform a show, the musician discovers that he must keep playing without a single mistake, or a madman will take both his and his wife's life.

PLACES choosing a very grim topic for her next film: according to "Deadline" it will be a film based on Gillian Flynn's New York Times bestselling novel which follows Libby Day, a woman who, at seven-years old, survived the brutal massacre of her family and testified against her brother as the murderer. Twenty-five years later, the Kill Club, a secret-society obsessed with solving notorious crimes, bring her to question and confront the truth of what took place that day. She will also star in THE MASTER next year, a film about a leader of a powerful sect. She's obviously in a dark mood these days.

Deadline also reports that Chris Pine has written and will star in MANTIVITIES, a coming-of-middle age tale which will revolve around a group of early thirty somethings at war with their adolescence. They all come together with the goal of helping one of their friends grow up. On the other hand,

 LAST VEGAS, the film I've mentioned earlier this week, with Robert de Niro and Michael Douglas, has just added Morgan Freeman as their third member of a group of friends headed to Las Vegas to celebrate the last of their retirement home buddies to get married. And you know your spy doesn't care at all about IRONMAN III but it seems they've just added James Badge Dale as Coldblood, who is, according to "MovieWeb", a man who stepped on a landmine that blew his body to pieces. After being dead for a few minutes, he is brought back to life as a cyborg and becomes an urban soldier who freelances as a mercenary.

Your trailer for today is the first clip for a very compelling WON'T BACK DOWN, a drama ready to hit cinemas this September in which Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal play two determined mothers , one of them a teacher, who look to transform their children's failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children. Viola Davis isn't the only Academy Award Nominee in the cast, since Holly Hunter is also there alongside Ving Rhames and Oscar Isaac.

NEW PIRATE SHOWS: STARZ' "BLACK SAILS", FX'S "PORT ROYAL", NBC'S "REPUBLIC OF PIRATES"! "HULK" & "THE PUNISHER" TV SHOWS AT ABC? ABC ORDERS "668 PARK AVE" SHOW

 Ah, my little freaks, it seems we will be having a TV day today here at your trusted HOLLYWOOD SPY. We've had lots of exciting news on future epicTV projects, and here's another one: NBC is planning an epic ten hour series on pirates. Period drama REPUBLIC OF PIRATES could air as soon as March next year. Helmed by LUTHER creator and a HARRY POTTER producer, the series is, as "Deadline" writers,  based on the book "The Republic Of Pirates" by Colin Woodard. Set during the 10-year “Golden Age of Piracy” from 1715 to 1725, it follows some of the world’s most notorious pirates as they forge their own rogue nation, called New Providence, which became the first democracy in the Americas. This is highly interesting since Starz has already ordered a whole season of pirate show BLACK SAILS to be produced by Michael Bay. They're already preparing the 8 episode show set 20 years before the events in Robert Louis Stevenson’s "Treasure

Island" and chronicling the adventures of Captain Flint and his men. To make things even crazier, FX is planning to do PORT ROYAL pirate series, while Fox has opted not to do Tony and Ridley Scott's PYRATES show.

HOLLYWOOD SPY TV NEWS

OK, people, so here's the latest TV info: As you know CW has ordered BEAUTY AND THE BEAST for the whole season, but they have cancelled THE SECRET CIRCLE. They've also ordered ARROW to be made into a whole show. Stephen Amell stars as a billionaire

 who turns into Green Arrow vigilante who fights criminals and evil people of his city. Fox has, meanwhile, renewed Keifer Sutherland's TOUCH for the second run and cancelled ALCATRAZ while NBC did the same to Jason Isaac's AWAKE, and ABC has opted not to shoot the second season of THE RIVER Amazon mystery show. They did, as expected, ordered second season of ONCE UPON A TIME which has become the most successful debut show from this season earning worldwide fame. ABC has also decided to make a whole show out of their 666 PARK AVE pilot which, starring Vanessa Williams and Dave Annable, follows residents of a strange building which is under the embrace of supernatural forces.  CBS has on the other hand cancelled Patrick Wilson's A GIFTED MAN, but Wilson was relieved saying the show was not what he had signed for.

And the last TV news for today brings an interesting info from ABC: they are ready to shoot THE INCREDIBLE HULK TV series as soon as 2013! According

to "The Hollywood Reporter" Guillermo del Toro is attached to produce the show. This might mean that Mark Ruffalo  won't get a stand alone HULK film with him in the lead role after the success of THE AVENGERS. There are also rumours that ABC is preparing THE PUNISHER show as well! HOLLYWOOD SPY has mentioned a few years ago that there are also secret plans on shooting BATMAN TV show after the films are finished in cinemas, and that Karl Urban is being kept as the lead actor who will wear the bat cape on the small screens. Speaking of Marvel, director Edgar Wright has revealed today that he might start shooting ANT-MAN movie before the end of this year.

My ladies (and gay gents) will be thrilled when they hear that Channing Tatum is negotiating to take the lead role in Roland Emmerich's action drama WHITE HOUSE DOWN. The studio has paid record breaking $3 million for the script centring on a paramilitary takeover of the Presidential residence. Meanwhile, another young hunk Taylor Lautner has, according to "MovieWeb" joined TRACERS, in which he will play a New York City bicycle messenger, Cam who is the hottest thing on two wheels, but is in debt to an organized crime gang. When he crashes his bike into a sexy stranger, Nikki, Cam is immediately seduced by her and the thrill of the world of parkour. Sounds like a flop to me.

Oh, my, what is it with hairdressers who constantly give Orlando Bloom some strange hairdos or facial hair in films lately? If you

check out the first trailer for his new film THE GOOD DOCTOR you will know what I'm talking about. It seems that years can't do a thing to Anthony Hopkins since he is busier than ever. Beside playing the famous director in ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO next to Helen Mirren and Toni Collette, playing Odin in THOR 2 and Pharotu in ARABIAN NIGHTS (with Liam Hemsworth as Ali Baba and Dwayne Johnson as Sinbad), he is also playing a famous writer in HEMINGWAY & FUENTES with Andy Garcia. And now he has  signed on to star in SOLACE EYES, a supernatural thriller in which he will play a doctor with psychic abilities, who hunts down a serial killer.

One of the projects we've mentioned before, THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER, has finally found its director in Neil Marshall (CENTURION). According to "The Hollywood Reporter", inspired by Bram Stoker's DRACULA, the film is set on Demeter, the ship that transported the vampire from Transylvania to London, except the ship washes up on shore with only one survivor left. This story tells the tale of that voyage, where one passenger murdered the ship's crew,

one by one. Ben Kingsley was previously mentioned for the lead role. "MovieWeb" reports that two brilliant boys Zachary Quinto and Topher Grace have joined Luke Wilson in THE INVITATION where Luke Wilson is invited to his estranged ex-wife's dinner party. Over the course of the evening, he is gripped by mounting evidence that something insidious has taken hold of his ex-wife, and that she and her new friends have a mysterious and horrifying agenda. By the end of the night, the ramifications of what happens in this house will spread far beyond its doors. 

Again, one of the upcoming comedies that I've mentioned before, LAST VEGAS has just signed Robert de Niro, who will join a fellow

Oscar winner Michael Douglas in the cast. Written by the scribe of TANGLED and directed by famous John Turteltaub, the movie will follow four old friends who decide to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single. De Niro will play the party-averse Paddy Connelly, who reluctantly agrees to fly to Vegas at the request of his friends. Douglas will play Billy Gerson, a lifelong bachelor, who has finally decided to take the plunge. Warren Beaty and Christopher Walken were mentioned before as possible candidates for the other two roles.
